OSHA requirements:

Annual and refresher training for ALL employees who have exposure to bloodborne pathogens in the workplace
Maintain an Exposure Control Plan
Maintain a Hazard Communication Plan, Emergency Action Plan, Fire Safety & Prevention Plan

WHO NEEDS THIS TRAINING?
Any employee who has the POTENTIAL for exposure to blood and other potentially infectious diseases as they perform their job duties.

DOH requirements:

Annual and refresher training for ALL employees who handle, treat, store or transfer biomedical waste
Maintain a written operating plan
Maintain training records and waste receipts for 3 years
Maintain a contract with a registered biomedical waste transporter
Properly package, segregate, handle and store biomedical waste generated at your facility
Apply for a DOH Biomedical Waste Permit prior to opening your facility

WHO NEEDS THIS TRAINING?
Any employee who handles, treats, stores or transfers biomedical waste as a part of their work responsibilities.

HIPAA requirements:

WHO NEEDS THIS TRAINING?
Any employee who handles PHI OR ePHI as a part of their work.

DOT requirements:

Specifically geared towards generators and transporters of Regulated Medical Waste

Employees must receive initial general awareness, function specific, safety & security training
Training must be completed within six months of employment and every three years thereafter
Document & Complete a HazMat test for HazMat employees
Employers must maintain a written safety and health program

Anyone who signs the waste receipt - including healthcare workers or Environmental staff.
Anyone who loads, unloads or handles hazardous materials - including biomedical waste drivers and environmental staff.
Anyone who accepts or treats hazardous waste - including autoclave treatment facility staff.
